About Us

The Borrego Art Institute (BAI) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the goal to inspire and enrich the community of Borrego Springs by offering a venue for the public to experience, create, and enjoy all forms of art.

Our distinctive campus features the Gallery, the Pottery studio and workshop, the ArtFarm gardens, the KidsArt programs and our on-site Restaurant, Kesling's Kitchen all in the heart of Borrego Springs’ core business district at Christmas Circle and Palm Canyon Drive. A community resource and gathering place, The BAI is an important catalyst for adult and children's education, participation, art appreciation, and a great meal.

Please join us for classesshows and other events, and as a member. If you are an artist, a resident, a visitor, a family, an art lover, or simply a curious explorer, we look forward to welcoming you!

What's New at BAI?

The Gallery at BAI would like to introduce our new program of Demonstrations and Seminars. Each month we will offer one or two programs to our members and the public. The second Demonstration, Rock Carving, presented by La Quinta artist Stuart Bailey, will be held December 14 at 2:00 in the gallery. Stu will discuss the process of creating a stone sculpture from starting with the idea, the tools to use, where to get the rock, plus he will walk the audience through the process of removing the stone and demonstrate carving and finishing the surface. Join us for an entertaining hour and a half of stone carving technique, examples and conversation.
Our third demonstration, will be held Wednesday, December 21 at 2:00 in the gallery and will be an interactive presention of fused glass jewelry making featuring Borrego glass artist Leonardo Huete. Members of the audience will be able to create their own fused glass pendant.
Demonstrations and Seminars are FREE to BAI Members, $15 to non members.

Now Showing: A Show of  Finely Crafted Art. Crafters from throughout the area display their crafts in our annual show of crafted art. Just in time for Christmas shopping. Work by local artists and pottery students, plus demonstrations of pottery wheel and hand-building techniques.
